Using the story of Elijah in 1 Kings 18–19, this message explores what happens when we drift from God, allow fear to lead us into isolation, or lose sight of the calling He has placed on our lives. Elijah experienced an incredible victory on Mount Carmel, yet shortly afterward he was afraid, exhausted, and hiding in a cave. There, God gently asked him, “What are you doing here?” The message reminds us that even after failure, fear, or seasons of running, God continues to pursue us. He meets us in the wilderness, restores us, and calls us back to trust.

This message unpacks the Ninth Commandment—“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor”—and explores the destructive power of careless words, gossip, slander, and false accusations. Looking at both Old Testament law and New Testament teaching, the sermon highlights how seriously God takes truthfulness and the protection of a person’s reputation. In a world driven by rumors, outrage, and unverified opinions, believers are challenged to guard their tongues, refuse to spread accusations without evidence, and recognize that words can destroy lives just as surely as physical violence. This message unpacks the Ninth Commandment—“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor”—and explores the destructive power of careless words, gossip, slander, and false accusations.
